ITEM ART 03-- ALBERT BIERSTADT (1830-1902) "BOATING PARTY", Oil on Board, 13" x 19", Signed in the lower right, A. Bierstadt. This painting is in excellent condition and comes with a period frame. There is also an exhibition sticker on the back. Authenticity is fully guaranteed. Born in Dusseldorf, Germany, Bierstadt settled in New Bedford, MA in 1831. Throughout his life he made frequent trips to Europe, spending time mostly in Venice and Switzerland. He has been exhibited in Austria, Belgium, and Germany. Bierstadt was named Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1867, received the Order of St. Stanislaus of Russia in 1869 and was awarded the Imperial Order of the Medjidi from the Sultan of Turkey in 1886. Signed in the lower right, this painting is in excellent condition and has a wonderful arts and crafts frame with it. There is a small plaque on the frame that states "1910 Royal Academy, The Gates of the Forest, John MacWhirter, R.A." We fully guarantee the authenticity of this item.
